The journey to our final year of high school and to graduate in front of our family is an amazing experience. Putting on that gown will make you realize that you made it and you finished the journey of high school. The next chapter in your life will commence in just a few short months. But first, you must be able to comprehend what it takes to get to that point and what graduating high school takes.
High school graduation is something that you want to be able to do without worrying if you are actually going to graduate. You want to be able to get the best grades possible and go above and beyond on each assignment to secure that marvelous grade point average. High school graduation comes once in a lifetime and you want to do your best to be able to say that you have completed that. Therefore, I am presenting you with the real knowledge of current high school seniors and they are reaching out to their peers about how they made it to senior year.

Students on the street who offered their advice were seniors Sonny James Joseph Barker and Rodrigo Cuellar. I asked Sonny what are the best ways to stay on top of school work and secure a GPA above 3.0.

Sonny replied that dedicating all the time that you get towards homework helps you to not fall behind on big assignments when you know that they are due.  Sonny gave the example that whenever the weekend comes, he utilizes that time to do homework as well as keeping up with completing homework after school. Sonny advises that whether you stay for office hours or just go home, stay on top of your work.

Sonny added, “ if I were to start all over and was able to do that I would try my best to get straight Aś and Bś.”  Sonny expressed the idea that it will be difficult at times if you are going through struggles and obstacles. Just study, do your homework and truly dedicate every second you get to focus on school. Sonny advises all of us that we should take as many AP and college classes as we can,  that we should study for the SAT and ACT and do well on the SAT essay.
I next asked Sonny about when we were freshman, wondering what he thought the senior experience would be like when he was just 14?  Sonny responded, “I did not really think senior year was going to be stressful with all the college applications we have to do. At first I did think it was going to be one of the easiest years since it is going be our last year in highschool. I made an adjustment to  my work habits by actually doing my work and doing it on time.”

Next, I came upon Rodrigo Cuellar.  I asked him similar questions. Rodrigo advises that the best way to stay on top of school work and secure a 3.0 GPA is to stay attentive on your work and don’t let any of the distractions that might be there get in the way of your success.

Rodrigo added, “if you're trying to get into a prestigious private university you will need to be an overachiever when it comes to school work and you need to be involved in extracurricular activities.”  Rodrigo also advised that you must take AP classes and college classes but you must do exceptionally well in them.

So all you freshmen out there, looking up to the seniors and wishing yourselves in the future, plan well, and your dreams will come true.
