Dear Mr. President:
You are causing so much pain, so much sorrow and you continue to do so with the actions you take. You are on the path to destruction of what America was once known to be: a free land, a hopeful place where people can come to, from all over to try and live a better life. Yet that now seems almost impossible with the steps you have taken to keep certain people out.
In my art piece I wanted to represent that this president’s command to build a wall has separated people who have just as much a right to be on this land as we do. EVEN MORE SO! Keeping people out will not help anything, but rather cause even more issues within the Latino/a community already based in America, thus leaning towards a chance that there will be an outbreak of protests to bring it down.
Furthermore, a 65 foot wall currently stands across the border of Mexico and runs 2,000 miles wide. Understandingly, the current wall is regulated by strict security for safety reasons. The fear of even more drug-related violence spilling into the U.S. caused President Obama and the government to enforce a “virtual policing” of the wall. The border was lined with cameras and radar towers, supposedly the most effective way of regulation. According to The Geo Trade Blog, the U.S. Mexico Border Wall lacks a greater purpose compared with The Great Wall of China, which was put up to prevent the stealing of properties. Knowing this, Mexico does not have any property theft issues but is one of the bigger countries we currently trade with, providing many benefits towards the U.S.
Considering these facts, there really isn’t a point to keeping a wall that high up, just to keep immigrants out, people who have done so much for America. These folks brought their culture/traditions, their services, and without their influence the U.S. would not be as prosperous as it is today.
In conclusion, President Trump's plans to keep the southern border immigrants or also known as “rapists, drug dealers and animals” out has been a successful ride for him. However, he has recently hit a wall of his own because Mexico refused to fund for the building of the wall and caused the 72- year- old to throw a fit. Upset with Mexico’s decisions, Trump turned to Congress, in hopes that they would be on his side and help pay for the wall. Fortunately, for us, Congress declined his demand.
We do not deserve a president like you. Your solution for every problem just causes another problem. Think logically Mr. President, what does putting up a wall solve?
Dear Mr. President, WALLS DIVIDE!
